skype

March 28th, 2011

Steve is being so good to his mommy! He got me all set up with Skype now. Yay! This is the most new toys I’ve had to play with in a LONG TIME! OK, I’m going to bed, I’ve been up way too long messing with this stuff, I’m starting to get a headache…g’night.

Gum wrapper chain.

March 26th, 2011

I am loving the faster internet. I was able to upload a picture to facebook to change my profile picture. It was a gum wrapper chain. I used to make those all the time in grade school. One thing I would REALLY like to know is how to make a “baby in a hammock” by folding a man’s big white handkerchief just right. I have a memory of my grandma showing me how to do that when I was about 3 or 4… hmmm…

I got a lot done on my vacation this past week. Did some more cleaning. Got the hsi and dvr hooked up. Stupid installer didn’t leave me any instructions. Steve is really being a big help on getting it all set up for me. Thanks Steve!
Got Skype, now just have to set up the camera. My old e-mail address won’t let me send out mail anymore, but I can still receive mail. That will no longer happen after the end of April. As soon as I get the new mail set up I’ll let you know what the addresses will be. Bill will have one too, but he says to tell people that he probably won’t check it very often. So if you need to tell him something, CC me to just to make sure he gets it.

I ramble on…anyway I kind of feel like I’m still on vacation yet today, even after going to work. I only had to go a half day.

I’m still typing this on the old computer. I should be getting the new one set up. I need a different type of table for the laptop. Right now it’s sitting at an angle that hurts me (yeah I’m old…so what? lol). Maybe I’ll look for an adjustable laptop caddy…

OK, I think the next time I post on here I’ll try to do it from the laptop…outside maybe to test the wireless…IF IT EVER QUITS SNOWING!

Red Lobster is yummy.

March 20th, 2011

Well, we took a little ride in the car yesterday. Driving down to visit Steve and Jess, we saw some interesting things along the way that I really wanted to take pictures of (but no, my camera was in the trunk, oops). Left way too early, thought about going to the zoo (decided against it), and drove past their house about 2 hours early…we then drove around and explored the area. Drove to Hickman and watched a little bit of the boys softball game, and then wandered back to Roca (after getting lost between Hickman and Roca ha…looked for the water tower and ended up making a complete circle around Roca). Sat for a while at the big public park there in the village of Roca, and by accident went to the Roca Berry Farm. It was closed so we didn’t go through it, but it looked like there was a lot of really cool stuff there that was family oriented fun stuff. I’m thinking that if Steve and Jess live where they are for a few years, maybe we’ll go there with the grandbaby… anyway, I say we went there by accident because on the way back out, I noticed the big sign saying Roca Berry Farm laying in the ditch like somebody crashed into it and broke it off (and again I don’t have my camera ready, it’s still in the trunk). We eventually did get to visit Steve and Jessica and got to see the ultrasounds of my new grandbaby. Also Brian (the dog) was excited to see us, and the 3 kitties are sweeties (can’t remember all the names yet) 2 long hair and 1 foundling (skittish, but friendly). Their house is nice and big with a big yard and garage, and a place to put in a garden. We went out to eat at Red Lobster and had a wonderful time! We also learned a new game…Peetee Punch (black one, purple one, or whatever color). There aren’t many slug-bugs around anymore…ha… Jess drives a purple PTCruiser…?…(get it?). Anyway it was really nice spending time with them. We don’t get to visit them very often, so that made it even more special. Everyone had some great seafood (damn-it I forgot to use my coupons), and took some leftovers home. We had some good conversations. Ideas and plans for nursery decor were mentioned, among other interesting subjects. But on the way home, I remembered that my camera was still in the trunk…crap…maybe I should have used the strap and wore it around my neck?

Anyway, we made it home ok and today I made my leftover king crab legs into crab cakes. They were very tasty, but clearly I needed to put an egg in the mix. The outside was crunchy and nicely browned, but the inside turned out kinda mushy, but oh so rich! I was out of eggs, so I used cream cheese and miracle whip instead of an egg, and one of the leftover bisquits for the breading. OOOoooyeah…mmm…mmm.

And by the way, I want to say a great big thank you to Steve for retiring his old laptop to me! I’ll be getting my high speed internet hooked up for that soon (hopefully this week sometime?), and getting a camera to hook up to it so I can get Skype. That way I’ll be able to see them more often (even if it is just on the computer screen). What I’m thinking is that my current e-mail address will be good for a month or more yet, but once it’s hooked up I’ll have to notify everybody what the new one will be. Bill will probably be getting his own e-mail address then too, so you can add him to your address book then…

I’ve got a patio full of neighborhood cats. Actually, they’re sitting on our picnic table. There’s Mooch, the grey shorthair siamese-looking male one. There’s Leo, the big fat long-hair orange lion-looking male. Then there’s Pricilla, the little white female with grey ears & grey-stripe tail. I think she’s probably going to go into heat soon and the males are hanging around…It looks like Pricilla has chosen Leo…might make some interesting looking kittens. Then there’s my cat Fancy who’s old and can’t hold her territory anymore…that’s kind of sad…all she can do now is growl at them when I hold her up to the window.

OK, I think I’ve spent enough time in front of the computer screen today…I’ll have to change screens (to my new laptop thanks again Steve) tomorrow…Kbye love ya!

Add new post…I’m on vacation! We plan on visiting the newly weds. I’m looking forward to it! I don’t know what else we will be doing the rest of the week, but I think I’ll just play it by ear….how about sitting in front of the ‘puter on facebook and surfing? That’s going to do it for tonight. Gotta go…I’ll write more later…maybe tomorrow?

REAL-LIFE CLOWN CAR!

March 14th, 2011

OK, on my way to work today I saw one of those little tiny 6′ long hybred cars (I’m not sure what model it is, but it looks like it could be like driving around a big cardboard box or something). I first saw it coming from the south and turning right onto 23rd st by the new Pizza Ranch. A little white cardboard box on wheels. My light turned green and I went…I got up behind him at the next light (it was green and he was still stopped, talking to the guy in the other lane). I gave my horn a little beep and they went. I noticed something that looked like a revolving antenna sticking out of the passenger side rear. Hmmm…about 18″ across revolving around the middle axis…hooked to the car where a rear windshield wiper might be…hmmm… OK, I pull up next to him…and it’s a giant wind-up key! It’s turning like it’s running down after someone wound it up. HA! Alright, then he got behind me to turn north by Walgreens. Stopped by the light there again, and I heard a really funny-sounding horn behind me so I looked in the rear view mirror. What do you think I saw? HA The old guy driving (looked like possibly a Shriner or something?) took off his baseball cap and then put on a multi-colored clown wig! I realized I had just seen a REAL-LIFE CLOWN CAR! I can imagine the 100 other clowns he’s got magically stiffed into the shoe box on the back seat of his big cardboard box. bwahahahaha And when his little wind-up winds down he has to pull over and wind it up again bahaha

K-Bye love ya!

Humility.

March 9th, 2011

Survivor is good this season. Russell was all arrogance, now needs to learn humility…do you think he will? No probably not…they sent the rich guy (who thought he was better than everyone else) home crying, boo hoo nobody likes him. It’s funny.

Today is my Friday. So I have to squeeze in 2 days worth of stuff into my day off tomorrow. If I have the energy tomorrow, I’m going to keep going on the spring cleaning. We’ll see how I feel in the morning. I got rid of some stuff last weekend and I have some boxes of clothes that I need to go through to get rid of the things I’ll never wear again. I have a lot of old jeans…who wants me to make them a blue jean purse? Only $25 each. Call me, we’ll talk.

Well, I can’t think of anything else right now, so g’night.
