Back after a long break.

January 27th, 2008

Well since the last time I wrote anything, I’ve done some traveling, saw some sights, danced some line dances, and put in a 60 hour work week. We got to go to my niece’s wedding last weekend in Missouri. That was fun. The hotel room was nice, but it seems that everyone else had the same problem with the heater as we did…too hot…too cold…too noisy…too hot…too cold…too noisy. Anyway, Nicole was just beautiful. The reception was entertaining, the food was good, and I did some line dancing. Then after we got back, the next week at work was really busy. I had to take my yearly trip to Wisconsin for seminars, and Wednesday when I got back from there, I still had to work till close. Today is my first day off since last Sunday. Anyway, I got some good pictures last weekend of the wedding and reception, but haven’t had a chance to even look through them, or post them here for other people to see. Well, maybe someday. Right now, I’m going to finish up this posting, and go watch some tv and relax and maybe have some breakfast. Later…

Clean car

January 7th, 2008

My car is happy today. I went through the car wash last night after work. It was looking pretty bad with all the road salt on it. The headlights just weren’t shining like they should either. Had to have them on high beams just to see the road. I should clean out the inside too. What else…hmmm…

A lot of the snow has been melting off, it almost feels like spring…too bad that’s a little over 2 months off yet. I hate winter.

I’m looking forward to warmer weather so I can try out the GPS that Steve got me for Christmas. I’m not sure that I remember all the stuff he showed me on there, but I hope to have time to read the instruction booklet before spring.

The new store will be opening soon…I just don’t know about that yet…a lot more work and no more pay…well, we’ll see how it goes.

I watched a movie on AMC last night. It was a western from 2003 called “Open Range” with Kevin Costner. We actually rented it a few years ago when it first came out. What was really weird was that some people at work were talking about different movies and that’s one they mentioned. Then there it was on tv the same night, what a coincidence. Anyway, it was pretty good. I’m waiting for “3:10 to Yuma” to come out. That sounds like a good one too. It might be out already.

Well, it’s almost time to go to Wisconsin again for the yearly seminars. Same old stuff and worse food. Fly out of Norfolk on the 22nd, get there & get on a bus to their convention center, eat some lunch, do the vendor booths until 11pm, get on the bus to the hotel, sleep for 3 or 4 hours and get back up and be on the bus by 6am back to the convention center, meetings till noon and back on the bus to the airport, then back to work to close on the 23rd. That will be a long week. I’ve learned to travel light, if I take too big an overnight bag, it just gets to be too much to carry…what with all the stuff they load us down with. Some of the little stuff they hand out is pretty cool though. Last year I got a nice little LED camp light, and some other stuff. Some of the stuff is just junk though.

I guess that’s enough to say for now. That’s the most I’ve put on here for a while. OK, talk to you later.

Happy New Year everyone.

December 31st, 2007

Hope you all have a safe New Years Eve. I’m staying home. Bill made me a nice supper (stuffed pork chops, hash browns with cheese, and green bean casserole). We’re staying home away from the amature drunks. Anyway, I don’t know a whole lot tonight so talk to you later. Bye

Hoar Frost

December 27th, 2007

The hoar frost was really thick this morning. Everything was white, all the trees and fences and almost everything above ground level. Go to Wikipedia and type in hoarfrost and it will bring up a good explanation. It’s also called air hoar. I don’t know when I learned the name for that kind of frost, but I got a kick out of telling the younger people at work. They didn’t believe me that that’s what it’s called. I told them to look in the dictionary if they don’t believe me. It’s funny. Anyway, going to bed, have to get up early again. Later

Wonderful day today!

December 25th, 2007

Yup, all three of my boys were here as well as my parents. Steve was the first to arrive and he brought Brian along. The first thing the dog did was chase the cat (we didn’t see hide nor hair of her all day after that). Pat and Adam came next, and Pat brought his girlfriend Ashley. Adam’s girlfriend wasn’t able to come, she was visiting her dad today. After that my parents came. We all had way too much to eat, and everyone went home with plates of leftovers, and the dog got a ham bone. After everyone left, the cat finally came out…but she had a mad look and was slinking around looking for the dog for about an hour before she settled down. She finally got her ham for supper and then she was happy. Steve gave me a gps unit for my birthday/christmas gift. He showed me a little bit on how to use it to go geocaching. I’ll have to read the instructions thoroughly, and then will probably wait till warmer weather to go hunting. It sounds like it will be really fun, and I’ll take Bill with me when I go. It’ll be something for us to do on my days off besides just sitting around the house. Anyway, I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! Tomorrow it’s back to work (boo). OK, bye for now.

Merry Christmas everyone!

December 24th, 2007

OK, the menu for tomorrow is as follows: Fresh Fruit with fruit dip, Ham, Phyllis’s Creamy Baked Hash Browns, steamed broccoli, sweet potatoes, brown & serve rolls, cherry cheese cake and cookies for desert. Doesn’t that sound good? Time for a shower now, and go to bed. Merry Christmas!
