Too tired.

April 10th, 2008

One day off a week now…and when it’s here I’m too tired to do anything except lay around. I felt like crap yesterday and slept for almost 12 hours last night. I’m working 6 days a week right now and it’ll be like that all month until the new store opens. I’m getting too old for that shit. I’d really like to quit and look for another job that’s not as strenuous and has regular hours, but then I’d also have to start over on vacation time and insurance too. I’ve been thinking that I’d like to start a business of my own, but that’s a whole ‘nuther set of problems. Well anyway, I guess my only hope now is to be on the receiving end of “Oprah’s Big Give” or something odd like that…which will never happen…I guess I’ll just have to plan on working myself to death…that’s depressing. OK bye.

Springtime.

March 26th, 2008

The birds are singing outside, and it’s over 50 degrees outside. Yesterday I did a little yard work and edged the front sidewalk in preparation for putting the concrete sealer on it and the patio. It still has to be powerwashed before applying the sealer. I think I’ll wait untill it’s a little warmer outside to do that though.

I’ve been off on vacation since friday. We went to Bellwood friday evening to the First and Ten Bar for the last fish fry of the year. They make really good fish…nice big pieces, crunchy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. Saturday I just sat around and did absolutely nothing. We did take a ride to town and rented a couple movies. Sunday was Easter and Adam came over to borrow a couple pie pans, and he went over to his girlfriend’s and made us an apple pie! It was really good.

Today, I think I’ll just do a little laundry and cleaning. I have to be back at work on Friday, so I’m just mainly going to relax until then because in the whole month of April I won’t be getting very much time off. I’ll be working at least 60 hours a week in April. The new store will be opening first part of May, so I’ll be at the old store getting stuff ready to close it down. It sure will be different working in a BIG store. I got to walk around in it a couple days ago…it is HUGE. It will take some getting used to. I noticed that employee parking is on the east side of the lot, and I work on the west side…yeah just my luck. Anyway, in a month or so I won’t have to hear “When are they going to open up that new store?” because it will be open.

Bill’s hands are healing up nicely. It seems to have helped a little bit, but the majority of his pain is still from his neck. He is reluctant to have that done because they have to go in through the front to get to the discs in the back. Well, it’s up to him to decide if and when he’ll have that done.

Well, it’s nice enough outside, maybe I’ll try to use my Christmas gift from Steve and go treasure hunting. Oh crap, I just looked outside and it’s clouding up out there, hope we don’t get rain just yet. Maybe it’ll wait until night time, that would be ok. I’m sure that the GPS works even if it’s cloudy outside. I might still try to do a little local treasure hunting if it’s not too cold and windy out there, we’ll see…maybe I’ll get the bike out and take a little ride, Bill got that out and did a little greasing and oiling and adjusting of that for me yesterday too (thanks Bill!).

We brought out the swing yesterday to the patio. Now we’ll at least have something to sit on and watch the pond as it slowly gets nicer outside. Later on after we get the patio power washed and sealed again, we’ll bring out the rest of the stuff. Then we’ll have room in the basement again, although the only time we really go down there is to do laundry.

Well, does everyone have plans on what they’re going to do with the big tax rebate? I’m not spending a penny of it. If it’s anything like the last big tax rebate, it’s not really a rebate…it’s just an early refund…you still have to figure that in on this years taxes next year. If it was a true rebate, you wouldn’t have to declare it as income or an adjustment to your refund next year at tax time. I don’t really want to get started on the economy either…basically everything is going up except my paycheck!

I suppose I’ve said enough for today.

I suppose I should put something down…

March 11th, 2008

This is a repeat of the last entry last month. Bill’s going in to have the other hand done tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t take as long as it did last time.

I’m taking a short vacation after Easter. Taking a few days off to do some things around the house. Planning on doing the concrete sealer on the patio again for sure, I do that every year in the spring. Maybe if I have a whole lot of energy I’ll try to do the waterproofing of the basement walls too, but maybe not…might just take the time to sleep.

We took a little road trip on Saturday and went to visit Jean and Buck. We looked at the house that got wrecked by a cattle truck. Supposedly the truck came around the corner too fast and just smashed right into the house. It’s got a big semi-sized hole in the side and the whole house is knocked off the foundation. I guess they only lost 6 cattle that day, and 50 more are still missing. I suppose some cattle farmer has a few extra. I heard that when this happened, there was a slumber party going on. No one got hurt, but when the truck hit the house, it knocked the kids upstairs out of bed. Apparently there could have been more kids there, but they went to someone elses house. They would have been sleeping on the main floor there right where the semi hit. Good thing they weren’t there, huh?

Well, that’s about all for now. Hopefully I’ll have more news before another month goes by.

Surgery

February 13th, 2008

Bill had carpal tunnel surgery today. He was going to have it on both hands, but changed his mind at the last moment and just had it on his right hand. He’s sleeping right now. He said he was glad he changed his mind. He was getting a cold and wanted to be able to blow his nose without help (among other things). He’ll go back in for a follow up in 10 days and decide then if he wants it done on the other hand. I hope it helps to get rid of some of the pain he’s been in for so long. OK, that’s all for now.

I’m officially old…

February 8th, 2008

I found out today that I’m shrinking. I used to be 5’7″ tall…well now I’m 5’6″. That really sucks. OK, I’m done for today…

Ouch, my left cheek hurts.

February 3rd, 2008

This time it’s not because of my tooth. It’s because I bruised my left butt cheek by falling on the ice this morning before work. I got out of my car and went around the back of it, and before I knew it, my feet came out from under me and I was laying on the ground in the snow. The first words out of my mouth were “SON of a b–ch”. Then I had to say it again…just because. I think I jammed my middle finger on the left hand too. Luckily no one at work saw it happen. I did tell them right away when I went in. Then I had to go along with all the jokes all day about the bruised butt, and resting my bruised ego, and what was I doing with my finger in my butt, and better my butt than my head, and something about knowing when to pull my head out of my butt…ummm yeah. Well anyway, I was a good sport about it. If it ends up hurting more I’ll just go to the doctor and they’ll pay for it…how’s that for being a butt-head?
