Pat in cowboy country…

August 3rd, 2008

Yeah, I never would have thought it…Pat is officially living in Wyoming, cowboy country. OK, more about that later…no time to write much today.

Christopher Walken and lazer cats…

July 19th, 2008

Lock and load…psew.psew…lazer cats in space…put on your 3D glasses…(Saturday Night Live)…lazer dogs…baby pug attacks a cat…looks like the cat’s got his tongue…ha. Anyway Christopher Walken guest stared on Saturday Night Live tonight. That guy’s a pretty big star, but he can’t act. Or at least he can’t act LIVE. He just looks off to the side during the whole skit reading off the cue cards. Well, I don’t mind telling you that it buggs me a little bit. (Hey, it’s late at night, and I’m tired…)

Anyway, everything is going along in life…no big problems…just work work work…and I guess it’s more fun to complain about work than it is to NOT COMPLAIN about work…makes it more bearable I guess…for the most part everythings ok, can’t really complain much. There’s always worse jobs, right? Have to keep the bills paid.

Haven’t heard a lot from my boys lately…hope they’re all ok…(let your mom know you’re alive, OK?)

How about those gas prices? Everything’s going up except my paycheck.

Well, I don’t have anything else today. Maybe I’ll write something else in a couple weeks or a month…see ya.

Happy 4th of July.

July 4th, 2008

Well, today is Independence Day. I’ve been on vacation since last Saturday. We took a road trip to Kansas City last weekend to visit Mike and Janine. We got a free room there at Ameristar Casino on Saturday. I won enough to pay for 3 buffets (Mike came to eat with us, Janine was out of town) and had a little left over. Sunday we went to the WW1 Museum, and to downtown where there was an art festival going on. We had BBQ for supper and spent the night at Mike and Janine’s. We came home on Monday. I’ve just kind-of been laying around ever since. I did make some home-made ice cream yesterday, and we went to the fireworks at Ag Park last night. Today we’ll have some chicken on the grill, potato salad, corn on the cob, and ice cream for desert. I don’t know if we’ll stay here to watch the fireworks at the park, or go to Schuyler to some friends to watch theirs. Whatever. I’m not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, that’s for sure. Well, that’s all for now. Hope everyone has a nice holiday!

Classic cars, ultra-lite hang glider, trashed cabin.

May 31st, 2008

Well, we had a busy day. First off we got the patio power washed and put on the concrete sealer. That looks nice and shiny now. We got the patio furniture out of the basement. Next thing we sat on the front porch and watched all the classic cars driving by. I guess the car club had their cruise day or something. There were a lot of nice looking old cars, and one cool looking school bus.

This evening we took a drive to Bellwood to watch our friends’ son Jason and his band (Shiver) play in the bar there. They’re pretty good. They play mostly rock music. Went to the other bar down the street and had some great prime rib, better than Husker House. On the way there we saw an ultra lite hang glider flying around…looked like fun. We also made a little side trip and drove out by our old cabin. It was trashed. Sad really. No porch, no gazebo, no steps to the dock, no dock, almost no cabin. Dave (the owner of the lake) was out there, and said that the people who had it after us didn’t really take care of it. I think they sold it so some “old guy” who never kept it up either. Then whoever that was just abandoned the place. Dave said he was going to pull the trailer out of there next week sometime. We looked around and inside the trailer…somebody decided to paint the whole inside white…and didn’t do a very good job of it. The only thing left there was the old console record player that I bought at a rummage sale for $10 (it was outside and trashed also).

Anyway Dave told the people with the next lot over to the west that they could use the patio (which is actually the sidewalk and porch area when there was a porch). I guess I’m kind of sort of shirt-tail related to them. The people across the creek (Ron & Carlene) are sort of my 3rd cousin twice removed, and that’s his nephew & wife with the lot next door to where our cabin was……that’s just sad that it got so trashed in just 4 years. There’s just nothing left of it except the shell. I guess we got rid of it just in time. There was probably only one good year’s use left in it when we sold it, and then it went downhill from there. Oh well…that’s the way it goes.

Anyway, the next thing I’m looking forward to 2 weeks from now is when we all get together for a picnic. I’m not sure where it’s going to be yet, but where ever it ends up being, I’m sure it will be fun. Well, that’s the most I’ve written in a long time. The crazy hours are finally over at work (2 months of hell). I suppose that’s all I have for now, so leave a comment or something. Bye.

Off work for a few days.

May 2nd, 2008

Well, I’m off work for a few days. Tuesday night at work I pulled something in my back and now I’m suffering. Laid on the hot pad all night Wednesday and Thursday nights. Went to the doctor and got some pain pills and muscle relaxers….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..I’ve been working too hard lately I guess, and I’m not as young as I used to be. OK, nothing else new except the new store is open now and maybe things will start to get back to normal soon. That’s all for today…going back to my hot pad now. Bye

80 hours this week………………………..oops I fell asleep there for a second…………….

April 19th, 2008

What else can I say? I put in over 80 hours this week. I’m a little tired so I’ll write more later. G’night.
