Long time no see…

March 6th, 2009

I haven’t written anything on here for a while. I don’t really have anything new going on. We’re going to take a weekend trip at the end of the month to watch Steve run in his marathon race in Kansas. I’ll be on vacation after that, I hope the weather cooperates. Maybe I’ll actually get something done around here. I’ve been wanting to do a little spring cleaning, but you know how that goes…procrastinating usually wins out in that inner conflict. I really should start exercising and eating right too…sure that’ll happen.

I have cabin fever really bad…it seems like anytime there’s a nice 60-70 degree day, I’m stuck inside at work. Then on my day off or weekend off…it snows or is cold or cloudy or windy, or just nasty outside. Well, I guess with the economy the way it is, I’m lucky to have a job.

I suppose that’s all for today…later.

Planes, trains, and automobiles (and 18-wheelers, and dump trucks, and every other kind of vehicle you can think of).

February 3rd, 2009

Yeah, they’re all going past the front of my house! Well, maybe not the planes and trains, but it sure sounds like it. They closed the viaduct in Columbus yesterday, and now all that Hwy 81 traffic is coming right past my front door…and will be for another 9-10 months! I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but right now it’s just annoying. I keep thinking that there must be a way to make that work to my advantage, but for the life of me I just can’t think of anything.

I had the day off today, and finally got my taxes worked out and e-filed. It was kind of hard to do, because I’ve never done them that way before. Last year I went to H&R Block for the first time, so it was a little easier to do them myself that way this year. Hopefully my refunds will be in the bank within a couple of weeks. I also should be getting my profit-sharing check from work soon, so then I should have enough to pay off all the big bills coming up.

Other than that we are doing OK here…except for all the semi-trucks going by shaking the house…maybe I’ll complain to the state, or the county, or something…maybe they can put up one of those radar/speed signs…and leave it there till next December…yeah-that’ll happen…

OK, that’s all I have today…bye.

Got my stimulus check.

January 31st, 2009

Oh…I was mistaken…that was last year. At least it won’t reduce my refund this year like it did a few years back. I’ve been working on my taxes. I’ve got a headache. I’m going to try to e-file this year on my own (maybe). Last year I tried H&R Block. I’m pretty sure I’ll get a refund though, not sure exactly how much yet. It’ll go for my new crown on my tooth, Bill’s dental work coming up, I need glasses again soon… It never stops does it? We’re old and falling apart and it all costs money…looks like my tax refund will be gone before I get it. Oh well, it’s only money. As long as I still have a roof over my head, and a job that keeps the bills paid, I can’t complain. After all, a lot of people have lost their jobs lately, and I’m glad I have a job. I hope our new president can make things move along quicker on disability claims (along with all the other miracles he’s supposed to be able to work – ha). Don’t get me started…OK that’s all for today. Bye

Without a hitch.

January 21st, 2009

Well, everything went without a hitch yesterday. The new president and his wife went to lots and lots of parties and stayed up late schmoozing and dancing and posing for pix, and then he got up early today and got down to business…hope it works out for all of us.

Noon…Eastern Time

January 20th, 2009

11am Central Time…our new president takes his oath of office. I don’t think I’ve wanted to watch one of those since I was in school. History will be made today (one way or another). There are a lot of people in Washington DC today…a lot more than they thought there would be. I think those 5000 port-a-potties aren’t going to be enough for 2,000,000+ people. Can you imagine standing in line with 400 other people waiting to pee?

Icy Roads…

January 4th, 2009

Yesterday I stayed home from work because of icy roads. Pat was supposed to be coming home from Wyoming yesterday…I hope he made it without any trouble. As far as I could tell he should have had clear roads most of the way.
