Vacation almost over.

June 4th, 2006

Well, we had a great time on my vacation! But it’s almost over…boo. Sunday night Steve and Pat were here for supper. Monday we went to the cemeteries. Tuesday we went to the bar and got drunk. Wednesday we drove to Kansas to visit Mike and Janine. We went out to eat at Red Lobster, went to Harrah’s, and the museum, and had authentic Kansas City Barbeque. While we were at the casino, I did something that I’ll never do again (Bill talked me into it, by the way)…I bet $100 on one hand of black jack…AND WON! I got 21 and the dealer busted! Anyway, Friday afternoon we headed back to Nebraska, got home at about 8pm. Went for a little drive around Genoa last night, there were a lot of people at the headgates for a 4-wheel jamboree (I bet there were at least a thousand people out there). Today I don’t know what the plan is, but that’s ok…I don’t have to be back to work till noon tomorrow. Even if I just sit around all day…that’s ok too…I’m still on vacation. See ya…

Happy Birthday Adam!

May 17th, 2006

Happy 17th Birthday Adam! 17 years ago today I was in the house on 6th street in labor, waiting for your dad to get home from work to take me to the hospital. 2 months prior I was in the hospital for a week because you wanted to come early. After that I was in bed for a month on all kinds of medication to keep you where you were for as long as possible. Well, that all worked out fine and you waited till you were supposed to before you were born. Got to the hospital and they took me to delivery right away. I was there for less than an hour before you were born. Once it was time to go, you didn’t waste any time! Now look at you! Sleeping in and getting to school late…driving…(not driving)…generally just being a great kid! Most of the time…LOL! Anyway, happy birthday to my youngest boy! I love you!

Monday morning.

Well, back to work again. Had a nice weekend with my retired old man. He bought a new smoker and tried it out on Saturday. Made a beef roast and some big chicken breasts on it. Also had some potato salad and macaroni salad and beans and rolls. Everything was really good. Had some company to help us enjoy the food and the new patio. Yesterday I decided I could get to the big project that I’ve been wanting to get done. Pulling the shower doors off and recaulking. The stuff I used the first time was pulling away from the edges and water was getting behind and running out on the floor. Hopefully this new stuff will last longer. Took 9 hours to get it all done. Part of that time was cleaning the shower and doors too, so the actual caulking job took about 8. Anyway, only 3 more weeks of work, then vacation! That’s all for today.

Tomorrow morning.

I get to ride with Bill on his second-to-last day of work. He says I won’t like it…I say I don’t care if I get shook-to-death riding along…I’ll probably never get the chance to ride with him in the truck again. He says “they frown on riders”…I said “what are they going to do, fire you?”. Anyway, he said that he has 3 loads tomorrow, all to the same place, so I’ll ride with him for the last one. I’ll bring along my book to read when he’s unloading…I don’t think I’ll get bored anyway. That’s all for now, bye.

Tuesday

April 18th, 2006

I have a day off today, and wouldn’t you know it…it’s raining. I was going to go outside and play today, but now I have to work inside (boo). Well, I suppose I can find something to do (yeah, ok). Well, it’s getting closer to the day Bill retires. He was lost there for a while when he first heard, but I think he’s getting used to the idea. I wish I could retire too. That’s all for today…leave a comment if you want.

Happy Easter!

April 17th, 2006

Happy Easter everybody (a day late). I had to work yesterday (hope whoever thought of being open on Easter gets fired). Took a little longer lunch and went to New World Inn for the buffet. All my boys were there. It was nice to eat a meal with the whole family, but didn’t have any time to really talk with them…just eat and go back to work. Well, that’s all for now, bye.
