Classic cars, ultra-lite hang glider, trashed cabin.

Well, we had a busy day. First off we got the patio power washed and put on the concrete sealer. That looks nice and shiny now. We got the patio furniture out of the basement. Next thing we sat on the front porch and watched all the classic cars driving by. I guess the car club had their cruise day or something. There were a lot of nice looking old cars, and one cool looking school bus.

This evening we took a drive to Bellwood to watch our friends’ son Jason and his band (Shiver) play in the bar there. They’re pretty good. They play mostly rock music. Went to the other bar down the street and had some great prime rib, better than Husker House. On the way there we saw an ultra lite hang glider flying around…looked like fun. We also made a little side trip and drove out by our old cabin. It was trashed. Sad really. No porch, no gazebo, no steps to the dock, no dock, almost no cabin. Dave (the owner of the lake) was out there, and said that the people who had it after us didn’t really take care of it. I think they sold it so some “old guy” who never kept it up either. Then whoever that was just abandoned the place. Dave said he was going to pull the trailer out of there next week sometime. We looked around and inside the trailer…somebody decided to paint the whole inside white…and didn’t do a very good job of it. The only thing left there was the old console record player that I bought at a rummage sale for $10 (it was outside and trashed also).

Anyway Dave told the people with the next lot over to the west that they could use the patio (which is actually the sidewalk and porch area when there was a porch). I guess I’m kind of sort of shirt-tail related to them. The people across the creek (Ron & Carlene) are sort of my 3rd cousin twice removed, and that’s his nephew & wife with the lot next door to where our cabin was……that’s just sad that it got so trashed in just 4 years. There’s just nothing left of it except the shell. I guess we got rid of it just in time. There was probably only one good year’s use left in it when we sold it, and then it went downhill from there. Oh well…that’s the way it goes.

Anyway, the next thing I’m looking forward to 2 weeks from now is when we all get together for a picnic. I’m not sure where it’s going to be yet, but where ever it ends up being, I’m sure it will be fun. Well, that’s the most I’ve written in a long time. The crazy hours are finally over at work (2 months of hell). I suppose that’s all I have for now, so leave a comment or something. Bye.
